Harvey Konigsberg is a New Yorker who began his career as a fine artist in 1964. The following year, he began studying Aikido with Yamada Sensei at the New York Aikikai. He has devoted himself to these two disciplines since that time.

What makes Harvey Sensei a great teacher? Just as a fine painter communicates so much meaning with simple brush-strokes, Sensei Harvey transmits so much of the essence of aikido with simple, elegant movements. It is through the experience of being with Sensei on the mat, that you feel the power, grace and elegance of his aikido.

In 1987, he founded Woodstock Aikikai, where he serves as Chief Instructor. He is currently a Shihan, holding a 7th degree black belt and is on the Technical Committee of the United States Aikifo Federation. Naka Ima Aikikai is honoured to have the privilege of hosting Sensei Harvey Konigsberg.
