Resumption of In-Person Classes at Naka Ima

With Ontario moving into Step 3 of its Roadmap to Reopening Plan, below are the dates for when in-person classes will resume at Naka Ima.

Online Classes During Lockdown

We are continuing to offer the following online classes while Toronto is in lockdown. New students are welcome.

Adult Aikido
Mondays at 8pm
Saturdays at 11am

Karate for 10 years old and up
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm

Children Martial Arts
Mondays and Thursdays at 4:30pm

Shaolin Kung Fu: New 10-Week Course Starting August 28, 2020

We will be hosting another 10-week Shaolin Kung Fu course with Shifu Yuan Jing, a 34th-generation Shaolin Warrior Monk at Naka Ima Aikikai beginning on Friday, August 28, 2020. This 10-week course will take place each Friday from 8 – 9 pm.

Aikido Friendship Seminar on February 21-23, 2020

Naka Ima is hosting an Aikido Friendship Seminar on February 21-23, 2020 with visiting instructors from various locations. The seminar will be held at our dojo in Toronto.

Special Adult Intro Martial Arts Class on February 1, 2020

Naka Ima is hosting a free martial arts class for men and women on Saturday, February 1st from 2:30 – 4:00 pm. Participants will get to try three martial arts offered at Naka Ima: Aikido, Karate, and Kenjutsu. No experience is required.

Dirk Müller Sensei Seminar in Toronto: November 22-24, 2019

Naka Ima will be hosting a seminar with Dirk Müller on November 22-24, 2019. Dirk Müller Sensei, 6th dan, started training in Aikido in 1986 and has been running the Shoshin Dojo in Hamburg, Germany since 2004. He is a current student of Seishiro Endo Shihan.

Endo Shihan in Toronto November 1-3, 2019

Endo Shihan will be back in Toronto for an Aikido seminar on November 1-3, 2019. Toronto will be his only North American stop for 2019.

Heidi Grot Sensei Seminar in Toronto: July 5-7, 2019

Naka Ima will be hosting a seminar with Heidi Grot on July 5-7, 2010 Heidi Grot, 4th Dan. Heidi has been practicing Aikido since 1985 and follows the teachings of Franck Noel Shihan and Yamashima Shihan.

Isshinkai Seminar on June 7-9, 2019

Isshinkai translates as one heart; one mind. This June Naka Ima is happy to open up its doors and mat to 5 instructors from across North America in a joint, open study and deep exploration of current Aikido practice.

Introducing the Naka Ima Karate Club

Starting September 7, 2017, we will be offering karate classes to men and women of all ages. The classes will be taught by Sensei Timothy Mahoney, a Rokuodan (6th-degree black belt) in Traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate.
