Aikido Seminar with Harvey Konigsberg Shihan, Feb 25-26, 2012

Naka Ima will again be hosting an Aikido seminar with Harvey Konigsberg Shihan in Toronto on February 25-26, 2012.

Harvey Konigsberg Sensei is a 7th degree black belt in Aikido and the chief instructor at Woodstock Aikido. In addition to teaching in Woodstock, he also instructs at the New York Aikikai in Manhattan, and has conducted seminars in Europe, Russia, Israel. South America, Mexico, Canada and the United States as well as the Caribbean.

Special Class with Henry Kono Sensei, January 15, 2012

There will be a special Aikido class with Henry Kono Sensei on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 10:30 am.

Henry Kono Sensei studied Aikido in the 1960s with O’Sensei at Hombu Dojo. He has been teaching his unique perspective on the art ever since, and conducts yearly seminars in Ireland, the Netherlands, Texas, Florida, Vermont and Virginia.

This special class will be held at Naka Ima, and a $10 mat fee applies.

Holiday Break Children’s Aikido Classes

Naka Ima is holding daily children’s Aikido classes at the dojo during the school holiday break, from December 26th – January 6th, Monday to Friday at 1-3pm. Any child between the ages of 5 to 12 years old are welcome attend the special children's Aikido classes for free.

Tuesday Classes in December

For the month of December starting December 6th, Naka Ima will be offering weapons classes on Tuesday evenings at 7:00-8:30pm. Training with the jo and bokken will improve your timing and understanding of empty handed techniques. Aikido weapons training is a great way to enhance your aikido practice. We recommend all members take advantage of this opportunity.

Aikido Basics Week: Free Martial Arts Classes (Sept 26 - Oct 1, 2011)

Naka Ima is holding an Aikido Basics Week from Monday, September 26 to Saturday, October 1, 2011. During this week, all kids and adult Aikido classes are free and open to the public. Each class will focus on an aspect of Aikido, such as basic Aikido history and terminology, basic Aikido techniques, basic self-defense & awareness, and basic rolling and falling.

Vu Ha Sensei Toronto Aikido Seminar: October 29-30, 2011

Naka Ima will be hosting an Aikido seminar with Vu Ha Sensei on October 29-30, 2011. Vu Ha Sensei is the chief instructor of Boston Aikikai and has studied the art of aikido for over 2 decades. He has been a devoted student of both Akira Tohei Shihan in Chicago and Mitsunari Kanai Shihan in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Donovan Waite Shihan Seminar in Toronto: June 18-19, 2011

We invite you to join us for an Aikido seminar with Donovan Waite Shihan in Toronto on June 18-19, 2011. Waite Sensei holds the rank of 7th Dan and is a certified Shihan with both the United States Aikido Federation (USAF) and Hombu Dojo, Japan. He is also a member of the USAF Technical Committee.

Special Introduction Class, Saturday May 14, 2011

Naka Ima is hosting a special introductory Aikido class for children and adults on Saturday, May 14,, 2011.

The children’s introductory class will take place from 10:00 – 10:50 am, while the adults’ introductory class will take place from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.

The free introductory Aikido classes will be held at its martial arts dojo in the Liberty Market Building, Liberty Village in Toronto.

Intro to AikiFit Fitness Program, Saturday, April 23, 2011

Naka Ima is launching a new fitness program called AikiFit aimed at anyone who wants to be fitter, faster, and healthier. AikiFit, a new fitness training system developed by Jesse Brown, consists of interval training across different fun challenging stations to improve stamina, increase flexibility and reduce the risk of injury.

To give everyone a chance to try AikiFit, Naka Ima is hosting a free intro AikiFit class on Saturday, April 23 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. To sign up, please send an email to info@nakaima.ca or call (416) 259-4320.
